Call Me Ishmael, Live!

Could a person, or many people working together, read Moby-Dick aloud from start to finish in just 24 hours? Apparently, it’s not only possible, it’s a tradition at the annual Sea Stories Weekend at the Mystic Seaport in Mystic, Connecticut — this weekend, July 31 – August 2. The reading takes place from noon on the 31st to noon on the 1st, with a birthday cake to celebrate Herman Melville’s birthday! And you can pay a few extra dollars to sleep a night on the deck of the last wooden whaleboat in the world!

I’ll also play some songs from at 12:00 on August 1st, marking my first opportunity to play any of these songs live. Many thanks to Megan Weaver and the good folks at Mystic Seaport for inviting me to play. Museum admission gets you into the book-reading, as well as the music following. For more details on the event, visit the Mystic Seaport website.

I hope to see you there! I posted some songs from my set list below. Also, to inform you of future shows, etc., I created a News page — look for the link in the sidebar.

Happy Birthday, Herman Melville!
